Softwood And Hardwood Blockboard

Blockboard is made up of softwood and hardwood strips and veneers. They are manufactured by placing softwood and hardwood strips edge to edge and sandwiched between veneers and then this sandwich is glued together with high pressure. The core can be joined by hands or by machine. There are only few small core gaps or even no core gaps in machine-made core . But core gaps are common in man-made cores . Machine-made core is much better than man-made core .

Application of Blockboard
Blockboards are generally used to make wardrobe doors, doors, paneling, and partition walls. Blockboard is mostly used when there is lengthy piece of wood is required which makes furniture stiffer or and prevent it from bending.

Different Types of Blockboard

• Interior Grade Blockboard, which are resistant to moisture and called MR Moisture Resistant.

• Exterior Grade Blockboard, which are called BWP (Boiling Water Proof) or as BWR (Boiling Water Resistant).

• Softwood Block board,Solid blocks of wood are used to make each blockboard sheet those are attached together using glue.

• Hardwood Block board,which is dense, heavy, costly, strong as the core is made from hard sheets. The coating is also by hardwood.
